A boy aged 15 has been arrested on suspicion of murder after another child was stabbed to death at a skate park.

The victim, also 15, was found with a stab wound in Salt Hill Park in Slough, Berkshire, at 6.30pm last night.

He died at the scene a short time later.

Police believe the schoolboy was stabbed during an ‘altercation’ involving a group of boys.

The suspect remains in custody for questioning, police said.

Det Ch Insp Andy Shearwood said: ‘I would like to further reassure people that we believe that all of those involved in this incident were known or associated with each other, and that this was not a random attack.’

He added: ‘I believe a number of other people were in the skate park at the time this occurred, so I would like to appeal to anyone who saw this incident to come forward, if they have not already done so.

‘I would particularly like to appeal to anyone who has any mobile phone footage of the incident or knows who is responsible for this crime.’

A resident said she was extremely concerned by the stabbing.

Chloe, who did not give her surname, told the BBC: ‘I look at it and think if that was my son how would I be feeling, so I can just imagine how his family are feeling.’

The victim’s family are receiving support from specially trained officers.

A post mortem examination is scheduled to take place later today, police said.

Anyone with information is being asked to call police on 101, quoting reference number 1240 21/9.
