A FAMILY is celebrating after successful surgery at just 28 days old separated their son from a parasitic conjoined twin. The conjoined twins were born last month with one fully developed and the other parasitic child attached by the hip with one genitals and a single lower limb. Their spinal cords were attached but these were successfully separated with no post-operative neurological deficits to live with for the fully developed child. Spinal Dural Reconstruction was done using Fascia Lata graft from parasitic lower limb as the dead brother helped the live one by donating his body part. The twins were admitted to civil hospital in Ahmedabad, India just 20 days after mother Shilpa Parmar gave birth. Mediadrumimages / India Photo Agency
