A family are celebrating after a successful surgery separated their newborn son from his parasitic conjoined twin.
The conjoined twins were born last month with one fully developed and the other parasitic child attached by the hip with just genitals and a single lower limb.
Their spinal cords were attached but these were successfully separated.
Spinal Dural Reconstruction was done using Fascia Lata graft from parasitic lower limb as the dead brother helped the live one by donating his body part.
The twins were admitted to civil hospital in Ahmedabad, India just 20 days after mother Shilpa Parmar gave birth.
A team led by neurosurgeon Dr Jaimin Shah operated on the boy after thoroughly investigating and the conjoined twins then underwent surgery on the 28th day of their life.
The complex surgery was performed successfully at Government Civil Hospital in Ahmedbad, India.
