A man is believed to have killed himself after hijacking a lorry then using it to crash into several cars before stabbing someone and hijacking a taxi.
Multiple crime scenes have been set up in Sydney after the man is said to have stolen a Woolworths truck then used it as a battering ram, hitting at least five other vehicles.
He is then said to have pulled out a knife, starting a fight with another man in his 20s outside a branch of Fitness First.
The victim is believed to have seen him on his rampage so started chasing him and confronted him – he is in a serious condition in hospital. Another woman was taken to hospital, although her injuries are unknown.
Witness Christ Burton said: ‘He was laying there, like “I’m going numb”. It was a good knife. It went all the way in.
‘I put my hand on [his wound], sat him down and told him what my mother taught me, breathing techniques.’
He added that the attacker looked ‘crazy and frazzled’. The alleged attacker then hijacked a red taxi and fled the scene at around 3.10pm, local time.
However, there are now reports of a body being seen in the street near a primary school in the Arncliffe area of the city – two miles from the original incidents in Rockdale.
Pictures show a body being covered in a white sheet, however police have not confirmed any deaths.
