Strictly Come Dancing star Giovanni Pernice has been mugged by masked robbers, according to reports.

The professional dancer was reportedly attacked with a noxious substance (thought to be pepper spray) after two muggers took both his watch and rucksack.

According to The Sun, the 29-year-old worried he’d been sprayed with acid after the incident took place in Epping, Essex.

A source told the publication: ‘His first thought was that it was an acid attack — because of the burning in his eyes.

‘He has been left absolutely terrified by the attack. It has hugely knocked his confidence.’

They continued to talk about the dancer’s Pussycat Doll girlfriend Ashley Roberts, who is said to have been shaken up by the occurrence.

The insider went on: ‘As a person in the public eye, Ashley is just as concerned that this kind of thing could happen to her too.’

Giovanni is said to have been waiting for an Uber to arrived when a black car pulled up besides him.

It was then that the alleged attackers struck, and the star was treated by paramedics at the scene. Reports claim that the police are looking into the crime, which supposedly took place last month.

Giavanni isn’t the first Strictly professional to have been attacked, as AJ Pritchard and his Love Island star brother Curtis were rushed to hospital last year after an ‘unprovoked’ nightclub bust up.

The boys were enjoying an evening with pals at the Nakatcha club, in Cheshire, when they were ‘circled’ by a group of eight thugs, who reportedly started kicking and punching the pair in the face.

A spokesperson for the Pritchard family confirmed the attack, and told Metro.co.uk: ‘AJ and Curtis were assaulted whilst on a night out with two friends on the 27th December 2018 in an unprovoked attack in Nantwich, Cheshire.

They added at the time: ‘Curtis is due to undergo an emergency operation in the next few days to correct the damages he has sustained to his knee, he is also recovering from injuries to his eye and face.

‘AJ received bruising to his face, arms, body and legs.’
