Surgeon ‘fired for posting photos of transgender patients’ severed genitals’

A gender reassignment surgeon work lost his job after posting pictures of transgender patients’ severed genitals online, it has been claimed.

Dr. Christopher Salgado of the University of Miami Health System reportedly operated the Instagram account, @sexsurgeon, which featured pictures of surgically removed genitals with graphic captions.

On Valentine’s Day, the since-deleted account posted a picture of a severed penis rearranged into a heart shape with the tag ‘#whatthefuckisthat.’

In another post, Salgado allegedly posted a photo of a dildo removed from a person’s rectum with the caption ‘could have been avoided if the transman had a real phalloplasty.’

The posts on the Instagram account have also been heavily criticized for containing racist and ableist (discrimination against those with disabilities) terminology.

One of the posts featured a picture of a penile enhancement with the tag ‘#asiancock’ and another called a transgender patient, who was seeking a phalloplasty, an ‘implant cripple.’

The doctor’s secret Instagram account was first revealed by an unnamed Facebook user who posted the information to a phallplasty support group on February 17, according to the Trans Advocate.

Saldago’s employer, the University of Miami, declined to comment in detail on the matter, but wrote: ‘We can confirm that Dr. Christopher Salgado is no longer employed by the University of Miami. We continue to have a team of experts providing the full continuum of care for gender reassignment patients.’

According to the Trans Advocate, the healthcare center plans to transfer Saldago’s patients to Dr. Ajani Nugent and the Johns Hopkins Center for Transgender Health.
