A 44-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of child neglect after a child died after being found unconscious in a caravan.
Emergency services were called at around 7.20am and discovered the 10-year-old boy in a caravan next to a house in Acocks Green, Birmingham.
Police said ‘nothing could be done to save him’ after he was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8.20am.
The death is currently being treated as unexplained and a post-mortem examination is due to take place.
Detective Inspector Joe Davenport, said: ‘This is a truly tragic incident in which a young boy has been found dead.
‘We understand he had some underlying health issues and was admitted to hospital recently.
‘We’ve launched an enquiry to understand what happened in the days leading up to his death and to determine if any factors have contributed to his death.’
