A woman says the man she was dating dumped her after a discount microblading treatment left her with four eyebrows.
Distraught Jami Ledbetter, 42, was born without brows, and was over the moon when her daughters gave her a $250 Groupon microblading treatment last November.
But her excitement turned to anguish when the procedure – which sees ‘eyebrows’ tattooed on with needles or a blade – went badly wrong, leaving her with four brows instead of two.
Ledbetter told WDAF: ‘I would never wish this on my worst enemy.
‘What it’s done to my self-confidence, it’s been hard.
‘I was devastated. I was even dating a guy, and he stopped dating me at that point.’
Mother of three Ledbetter believed she was having a treatment performed by a ‘certified’ microblader, although the practise is unlicensed in her home state.
She was so appalled by the results of the cosmetic procedure she only went to work and the grocery store for fear of anyone seeing her botched brows.
Ledbetter tried camouflaging them with makeup, to no avail, prompting her to sek help of licenced tattoo artist Kara Gutierrez.
Gutierrez herself was shocked by how badly Ledbetter’s brows had been done, saying: ‘It took everything in me to hold back tears because this is the worst I’ve ever seen.’
She has been using a pigment lightening solution on Ledbetter’s brows, which creates scabs where the brows have been tattooed on, and pulls the dark ink out.
Ledbetter has been having treatment at eight-week intervals, and faces up to three more treatments – costing a total of $1,000 dollars – before her bad brows are gone for good.
She said: ‘If I would have known it was going to turnout like this, I probably would’ve never done it at all.’
The unnamed woman responsible for her look has since gone out of business.
